Cyberspyder

Cyberspyder is a new play commissioned by Dundee and Angus City Councils to deal with the issues of cyber bullying and paedophile grooming of children via the internet.

Baldy Bane toured the play to all secondary schools in Dundee and Angus, as well as performing to East Dunbartonshire Child Protection Committee at their conference on Current Understandings and Interventions In Child Neglect. A showcase performance was also held at King’s Park Secondary School for a specially invited audience of inter-agency practitioners from Education, Health, Social Work, Police, Community Safety and other related organisations.

Professionals, who attended, have been extremely positive in their feedback. Comments received include,

“The production, direction and acting was carried off by such a talented team; reaching and engaging with the pupils and invited guests”.

“We thoroughly enjoyed it and felt the impact of the play would be far more beneficial than input by ourselves”.

“Baldy Bane created the image of Cyberspyder, an anonymous man locked in a cage fastened with four bolts. At the same time, this powerfully acted drama follows the lives of a group of children, with differing kinds of family and peer pressure calibrating their lives somewhere between difficult and impossible.”
TIMES EDUCATIONAL SUPPLEMENT. 21st March 2008

“Sadly, where children go then child sex offenders will follow. This drama will help give young people the tools and knowledge to help keep them safe online."
