THE LAND OF THE EMERALD STARS

Caitlin Mackay lives in the bonny village of Muckledowp. It is a very cheery place to live, thanks mainly to her Auntie Maggie, the village gossip. Maggie knows everything that goes on and makes sure that everybody stays happy.

One day the happy village is thrown into turmoil with the arrival of Gwendolyn Grimalkin, an evil sorceress. She demands that the villagers become her slaves and give her three quarters and two thirds of everything they own. When they refuse, she uses her magic to dry up the local stream and well. Without water the village will dry up and die.

Caitlin reminds Auntie Maggie of a story she had told her as a child, of an Ice Palace in the frozen wastes of the North. An icicle from this palace, thrown into the well would give the villagers enough water to last a hundred years.

Maggie and Caitlin set of on a journey to find the palace and bring back the life saving icicle. They face many dangers on the way as Gwendolyn has discovered their plan and sets the full force of his powers against them.

Help is on hand however, in the form of Walrus T Blubberbutt, convener of the Arctic Animals social club. Caitlin is invited to their AGM. Where they discuss what is to be done about her plight. Together they decide to meet the Princess of The Emerald Ice and ask for her advice.

Gwendolyn however has overheard their plans and decides to melt their realm forever. Who will triumph and what will be the final outcome?
